Mercedes-benz CSI

With enormous thanks to the Arendz-Theiler family I have been offered the amazing and privileged opportunity to be one of 280 organizational volunteers at the Mercedes-benz CSI in Zurich, Switzerland.  This competition is in its 26th year, from the 25th of January to the 27th of January, which entails entertainment based equestrian performances, and the Switzerland FEI World Cup qualifiers for show jumping. The theme of this year’s Mercedes Benz CSI is “Around the World”- fittingly so seeing that I am traveling to attend from half way around the world!

Here is the official description of the theme: http://www.mercedes-csi.ch/en-home.phtml

“The show presents a journey around the world. From the breathtaking Cossack spectacle to the Arabian horses and camels from the Middle East. With the action-packed Hungarian postal service, Pegasus the flying horse from Greek mythology, the fascinating French liberty dressage as well as traditional Spanish horse dancing using the garrocha. All rounded off with cowboys, Indians and an incredible fire show.”
The ticket price per day averages at about CHF90 (+-R1100). Some huge names are sponsoring this event such as Longines, LGT Private Banking, Laureus, Lerch&Partner, and of course, Mercedes-benz.

I will be living with Rolf Theiler, the proprietor of the competition, and his super stylish wife, Gloria Arendz-Theiler.

Last year I attended the South African Investec FEI World Cup qualifiers in Stellenbosch, and I cannot wait to see what the quality is in country like Switzerland.

Some of the top names in show-jumping will be attending the Switzerland FEI qualifiers, held in the famous Hallenstadion (which, by the way, is used for massive shows such as Cirque de Soleil, Robbie Williams, Miley Cyrus, Depeche Mode, and art installations and exhibitions, and a range of other sports)
